Scholar Finalist Notification Day (2024)

This year we had more than 11,000 students apply to the Emory University Scholar Programs, one of our largest Scholar applicant pool to date. The pool was highly competitive, and the Scholars Selection Committee worked diligently to review every applicant holistically and fully.

How will Finalists be notified?

All applicants to the Scholar Programs will receive an email February 21, after 6:00 pm ET. The email will provide details on whether you have been selected as a Scholar Finalist to move on in one of the three Scholar Programs or not.

If you do not receive the email, check your SPAM folder. Please ensure that you approve as a valid email address in your address book.

Notifications are not sent via postal mail and cannot be released over the phone.

How many Finalists were there this year?

Out of more than 11,000 applicants for Scholar program, approximately 200 students (about 2%) were selected as Scholar Finalists for one of the three distinct Scholar Programs. Congratulations to these students! The reality is that many students will not be selected today, and that can be frustrating and disappointing. With such limited spots in these competitive programs, we cannot offer Finalist status to all of the accomplished and intelligent students we’ve reviewed these last few months. We fully understand that not being selected can be disheartening.

What if I’m not a Finalist?

Each year, many students not selected as Scholar Finalists are admitted to Emory University. These students go on to become significant contributors to the campus community. Whether through opportunities like leadership at Oxford College, serving on the Student Alumni Association, or overseeing campus-wide events with the Student Programming Council, there are countless ways to make the absolute most your college experience.

Will other scholarships be given out this year?

Yes. There are many strong, high-achieving students in the applicant pool. We plan to release a limited number of additional merit scholarships at Regular Decision (by April 1). We also encourage families to connect with the Office of Financial Aid to learn more about opportunities for grants, loans, and federal work study awards. More than 60% of Emory’s undergraduate students receive some kind of aid to support their education.

To students who applied Regular Decision

Remember that your Scholar Finalist decision in no way impacts your admission decision. Your admission application is still under review, and you will receive your admission decision by April 1. Stay tuned to this blog and your email for updates when Regular Decision notifications will be shared.
