The academic areas that I am interested in is not only nursing but more. I want to explore the different types of academic departments that is provided at Emory. I want to have experience with nursing, law, dentistry, and pre-med. My personal experience with over the years with cheerleadering ,dance and ballet have taught me that I can make changes, in those states of matter also. I feel as if Emory is the best state of a choice to fulfill my dreams and becoming who I want to be in life.

Reflect on a personal experience where you intentionally expanded your cultural awareness.

A couple of months ago the conflict between Israel and Palestine was trending. I had people all over my timeline spreading information, awareness and ways to help but I knew nothing of the subject. I decided that I would educate myself and expand my cultural awareness by learning about the topic, watching whatever I could on the news for updates and reading first hand accounts of people that live there. There weren’t many organizations that I could donate to because there were claims of scammers and some articles online would even say that donating wouldn’t be that much of help; however citizens experiencing the brunt of the conflict did say that simply educating ourselves itself was a big help so I did just that.

I am a second year medical student student at Mekelle university ,Ethiopia . As Medicine being my dream ever since childhood, joining the medical department is one of my greatest achievements in my life. During the current situation in Ethiopia I am not able to proceed it right now. I am sure that Emory is the best place for me to make my dreams come true, as it is one of the best schools found In the USA and also helps its students to be effective in every direction by providing them with its the greatest experiences.

As part of a family mainly run by females, I learned all the fashion icons, and trends from clothing styles to how to be a proper girl, but the one thing that caught my attention was photography. Each time we posed for a picture my mentality was “how do I look ?” “Does this angle look good ?” “Do we have perfect lighting ?”. Now as a teenager I have developed my photography skills into a useful resource to start my own small photography business but in order to make it successful, I need a degree to show that my skills are worthy which is why my academic interest in a college is in visual and performing arts-related majors. I come from a very cultural country which is El Salvador, and as a Salvadoran, my cultural awareness has grown so much into an extended level of arts because where I come from we share so much music, dances, and traditions as well as the Indian culture and as for myself I see that as a beautiful way to express our love for one’s country and culture.
